Colby Phillips Advisory (formerly Colby Industries) has helped an Adelaide-based food manufacturer receive its first ever grant to invest $1M in new equipment for retort food packaging.   The $300k grant was secured from the Green Industries SA Food & Beverage Implementation grant program (https://www.greenindustries.sa.gov.au/food-beverage-implementation-grants).  Before preparing the grant application, Dr Chris Colby, Director and Principal Consultant of Colby Phillips undertook detailed technical and commercial analysis to demonstrate how the equipment would improve productivity and resource efficiency at the business and save it money.

These resource efficiency improvements included 2.7 Trillion Joules (TJ) in avoided gas consumption, 31.1 Million Litres (ML) of water saved, 8-tonne saving in salt for water softeners, 31.9 ML less Trade Waste disposal, and a 40% labour productivity gain. According to the business, this was the first time the business has been successful in securing a grant despite many previous attempts.
